 | Wonderful adventures in support of YWCA | If you’re looking for adventure, you’ve come to the right place. YWCA has teamed up with Global Adventure Challenges to give you the opportunity to go on an exciting and challenging journey in support of YWCA. Thousands of young women face mountainous challenges every day that most of us would find intolerable: bullying, prejudice, exclusion, violence, poverty and abuse.
Now you can face the challenge of your life to help us support them. Choose from one of these fabulous journeys:
Cape Challenge in South Africa This is a varied trip in South Africa's beautiful and unspoilt Cape province involving hiking, cycling, swimming and enjoying flora and fauna. See the itinerary
Borneo The ultimate challenge, not for the faint-hearted, on this trip you hike to the summit of Mount Kota Kinabalu, go white water rafting, cycle on jungle trails and at the adventure camp, sleep under the stars, build rafts and meet the orang-utans! See the itinerary
Canadian Rockies cycle adventure A most wonderful cycle ride through stunning scenery: mountains, lakes, glaciers and forest wilderness. Watch out for grizzly bears and elk! Finish your adventure with some white water rafting on the Kicking Horse River. See the itinerary
China - the Great Wall challenge “You are not a man if you have not been to the Great Wall” so a Chinese proverb goes. We'd like to think 'youre not a woman' either. Get your walking boots on for an incredible hike along the wall - you can even help with it's rebuilding. See the itinerary
Sailing in the Atlantic western approaches Taking in the three coastline ports of Falmouth in England, Cork in Eire, Milford Haven in Wales, this will push you to the limits. You will sail the open seas, out of sight of land for long periods under the command of highly qualified skippers and in waters which are often exposed to the full force of the Atlantic weather. See the itinerary
Peru - the Inca Trail Hike through sub-tropical vegetation and past snow-capped peaks on the Inca trail to an altitude of over 4,050 m (13,280ft) to reach Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. Before setting off try white water rafting along the Urubamba River or tour and explore the Inca sites. See the itinerary
Grand Canyon Descend 3,100ft into the canyon on foot on an ancient trail to visit the Havasupai Indian Reservation. Go kayaking in the cold waters of the Colorado River and hike through the stunning Grand Canyon scenery, taking in fabulous rock formations and the turquoise waters of Havasu Creek. See the itinerary
India motorcycling It's no easy ride to travel 1,300 km on a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle through the incredible variety of landscapes that make up the Indian sub-continent. Motorcyclists will need to adjust to an Enfield if they're used to riding a more modern machine - Enfields have drum brakes, gears on the right foot, rear brake on the left and need kick-starting, but what a way to see India! See the itinerary
Lapland dog sledging Wrap up warm! Drive a team of spirited huskies for six days across the frozen Arctic, sledding through rolling highlands and deep forest into the heart of Lapland, crossing the Swedish border before arriving at the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi. Watch the Aurora Borealis as you tend your dogs before finally curling up to sleep in a traditional Sami tent. Unforgettable! See the itinerary
Everest base camp trek in Nepal This trek takes you close to the base camp of the world’s highest mountain through some of the most breath-taking scenery on the planet. You'll reach an altitude of 5545m (16,901 ft). The trek is taken at a pace to allow rest days for acclimatisation. A good level of fitness is required as the walking at times will be strenuous and you will be tested to the limit – but the rewards will be worth it. See the itinerary
Zambezi white water rafting Expect to get very, very wet! From beneath the mist of the dramatic Victoria Falls, you start your fun-filled rafting trip over rapids and exhilarating white-water through spectacular gorge scenery. This has to be the best white-water on the planet, but you'll also experience amazing sandy beaches and a helicopter flight through the Batoka Gorge and over Victoria Falls. See the itinerary
