Commissions
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC)

The Equal Opportunities Commission is working to eliminate sex discrimination in Britain today. If women and men had equal chances in life, things would be different.
The Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR)

This new commission will be launched on 1st October 2007 but much is already in place. It will bring together the work of the three existing Commissions, the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE), Disability Rights Commission (DRC) and Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) in this new body. It will aim to reduce inequality, eliminate discrimination, strengthen good relations between people and protect human rights. The CEHR will take an active role in helping to achieve change to benefit some of the most vulnerable and least well represented people in our society.

CRE work for a just and integrated society, where diversity is valued. They use persuasion and their powers under the law to give everyone an equal chance to live free from fear of discrimination, prejudice and racism.

DfES Careers Education and guidance framework

To drive up the quality and consistency of career education programmes, the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) has issued a national framework for careers education, with recommended learning outcomes for each stage. It covers the 11 to 19 age range, and includes support to post-16 learning providers to continue to develop young people's career management skills in post-16 provision.
