Truro

YWCA Truro runs programmes for young women who face isolation, disadvantage or discrimination.

YWCA’s Truro Young Women's Centre is based in the heart of Cornwall; one of Britain's most popular holiday destinations. But the loss of traditional industry in the county means it is now one of the poorest. The area immediately around Truro is noted for its unemployment and poverty rates.

Young women are particularly affected by this so our project runs a range of programmes at our centre, in local schools and in the wider community for those who may be feeling isolated or hopeless.

Our informal, friendly and safe environment gives young women the chance to think about issues like self-harm, low self-esteem, career choices, relationships and body image. We offer real opportunities for young women to overcome obstacles in their lives.
