The stories so far…

I fell pregnant at 17, I went to the doctors and she said to me what can I do for you? I replied with well I am pregnant, she replied with and what do u expect me to do about it. So from day one I was judged. I am constantly looked down upon and people assume I am a bad parent, it is unfair and people who dont even know me are oppressive towards me! Laurelle, my daughter is now 6, I am so proud of her, she is doing fantastic at school and I love her to pieces. I am currently studying for a youth and community work degree, and am very proud of myself. It has been hard, however the hardest thing is challenging the discrimination and oppression society throws at you because you choose a different path in life instead of the 'norm'. For the future I want to work with young parents and challenge societys stereotypes!!! Claire Hunt

I hate people who look down their noses at us young mums. I fell pregnant when I was 17, I hated the idea of telling my parents as I was still in education doing my A levels and I didn’t want to let them down. When I finally did tell them it was one of the hardest things I had to do (apart form labour) but I did and it made me stronger and now me and my boy can get thro any thing. Just think of having a baby young as the best thing ever because now you have some one to share life with. Don’t think of it as ur life is now ruined because its not, we’re very very lucky to be able to have such a precious thing in life. Hanah
